Dalgona Coffee

Dalgona coffee is the craze of late. I am joining in the trend to find out for myself why this drink is so popular.

Dalgona coffee is basically milk topped with foam made with coffee and sugar. Also known as whipped coffee or beaten coffee, the drink has origins from India, Pskistan and Macau. It gained popularity from a Korean TV show and Tik Tok, and has become a trend since.

With many staying at home due to COVID-19, Dalgona coffee is now the stay-home drink for many.

This beverage is incredibly easy to make. It is essentially whipped coffee foam over milk. The ratio of the 3 ingredients (instant coffee, sugar and hot water) for the whipped coffee foam is 1:1:1. Whip by hand or using the electric mixer until the mixture reaches stiff peaks. Top it over a glass of milk and you can enjoy a delectable and heavenly cuppa at home!

This is what mine looked like after mixing the whipped coffee foam into the milk.

What are you waiting for? Quick go make yourself a cup of this stay-home cuppa!

Dalgona Coffee
makes 3 cups

Ingredients
Part A
2 tbspn instant coffee powder
2 tbspn sugar
2 tbspn hot water

Part B
Milk

Topping (Optional)
Chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, crushed cookies, etc

Method
1. Add all ingredients in mixing bowl.

2. Using a hand whisk or electric mixer, whip till mixture reaches stiff peaks. (I used the electric mixer and managed to whisk mixture to stiff peaks in 2 minutes)

3. Fill 3/4 of cup with milk and top it with the whipped coffee foam.

4. Sprinkle toppings of your choice.

5. Enjoy!

Note - Do not use 3-in-1 instant coffee as you will not be able to whip the mixture to meringue consistency.
