Crab Stick Crisps


For years I've seen this snack sold during Chinese New Year but I've not attempted making this myself as I rarely do deep frying. However, deep frying food is no longer that daunting to me since I started using Medella's Organic Premium Coconut Cooking Oil. Due to the high burning point of the oil, your food do not burn so easily so it is a healthier cooking oil to use, especially for deep frying.

So this year, I decided to make my very own Crab Stick Crisp!

I really want reiterate how GOOD this coconut oil is!! Not only is there no unpleasant smell when I opened the bottle seal, it is also superb for deep frying due to its high smoke point. I do not need to be so watchful over the crab sticks as they don't burn so easily even when I was deep frying at high heat!

This is a very easy but tedious snack to make but it is really yummy, crispy and delicious. My daughter gave a huge thumbs up right after she took one! Mind you, be prepared to make more as these are very addictive and will be finished very soon!

Crab Stick Crisps
makes 2 botttles

Ingredients:
2 packets crab sticks (I use Dodo brand)
Corn flour, for sprinkling
Medella's organic premium coconut cooking oil, for deep frying

Method:
1. Roll out the crab sticks and tear into smaller strips.



2. Sprinkle corn flour over the crab sticks and mix well, ensuring all well coated with the corn flour.


3. Refrigerate overnight. This is to help dry up the crab sticks.

4. Pour oil in a pot and deep fry the crab sticks on medium-high heat until they are crispy and slightly golden brown. (I'm using coconut cooking oil which has high smoke point so the crab sticks do not burn easily even on high heat. If using normal cooking oil, please use medium heat.)





5. Remove and drain away the oil on paper towels.


6. Store in air-tight container when cooled.
