Easy Apple Pie

This is a quick and easy cheater's apple pie using frozen prata as the crust instead of making the crust from scratch. I'm so loving these frozen pratas as they are so versatile!

You can also use store-bought puff pastry, but I find frozen pratas easier and I always have these in my freezer. To reduce wastage, I made the appie pies into curry puff shapes by just folding the prata into half after putting apple fillings in the middle. To have a more presentable rectangle shaped apple pie, cut the pratas into equal rectangular shapes before putting the fillings but there will be wastage. For a more presentable looking pie for photo-taking purpose, I have made one rectangle shaped apple pie.

Love the aroma in my kitchen!

Easy Apple Pie
makes 6 curry puff shaped apple pies

Ingredients:
For the crust
6 frozen prata

For the filling
2 red or green apples, cut into small pieces
25g butter
30g sugar (or to taste, depending on how sweet your apples are)
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tbspn lemon juice
1 egg, beaten (to seal the crust)
Some butter to brush the top of the crust

Method:
1. Cut apples into small cubes or pieces (skin peeled).

2. Melt butter.

3. Add sugar to the melted butter.

4. Next, add the cut apples, cinnamon powder and lemon juice and cook till the apples are softened. (Stir constantly)

5. Preheat oven to 200C.

6. Put some apple fillings in the middle a prata. (Do not put too much apple fillings or it will overflow and you will not be able to seal the crust)

7. Brush the beaten egg along the edge of the prata, fold the prata into half and use a fork to seal the edges. (Refer to notes below if you want a rectangle shaped pie)

8. Brush the crust top with butter and bake in preheated oven at 200C for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is browned.

Note:
For a rectangular shaped pie, cut the prata into rectangular shapes of equal sizes. Put apple fillins in the middle of a rectangle prata. Brush the edge with the beaten egg and cover with another rectangle prata. Seal the edges using a fork. Brush the crust top with butter before baking in oven.
