Madeleines are small French tea cakes with a distinctive shell-like shape on one side (acquired from being baked in pans with shell-shaped depressions), and a smooth, with a hump, on the other side.

Piggy Mooncake (Baked)
I'm making a batch of these Baked Mooncake using cute piggy moulds especially for my girl. She has been eyeing the Chocolate Mooncakes I've made a few days back but as I've used coffee paste filling, I'm reluctant to let her eat them. So...to cheer her up, I'm putting my piglet mould into good use to make a batch of mooncakes for her and her friends for their upcoming Mid Autumn Festival celebration in school.

Yuzu Jam Chiffon Cake
I love anything with Yuzu. I just bought a bottle of Yuzu jam and I immediately thought using this to make a Yuzu Jam Chiffon Cake.
Buttermilk Substitution
I first came across a recipe that requires buttermilk years back when I wanted to make Red Velvet Cake. I nearly didn't manage to bake the cake because I was not able to find this at the supermarket near my place. Thankfully I was given this buttermilk substitute recipe and I have been using this everytime a recipe calls for buttermilk as one of the ingredients.

Black Sesame Pound Cake
I've never tried adding sesame to my cake bakes so far and I'm not able to imagine the taste and aroma it lends. I've read that sesame seeds not only add a nutty taste to your food, it also has many health benefits. Since I've always grown up with Sara Lee's pound cakes (but hadn't been having them since I picked up baking again), I thought why not use black sesame seeds as one of the ingredients for a Black Sesame Pound Cakes.

Carrot Cake
This was one cake that got me really intrigued when I first heard of its name many years back. You see, I've only had carrot cake - black or white at Singapore's local hawker centres or foodcourts all these while until I had my first Carrot Cake at Olio Dome years back.

Walnut Mooncake (aka Shanghai Mooncake)
I used to love the Moon Tarts from Harbour City Restaurant at PSA Building (the restaurant is no longer around). I was super thrilled when my ex-colleague shared her walnut mooncake with me as it reminded me of the Moon Tarts I so used to love.

Coffee Walnut Mooncake
This mooncake is truely heaven for coffee lovers. It's so lovely that I don't think it should only be made during mooncake festival...plus, you don't need any mould for this!

Cherry Clafoutis
Cherries are in season and now is the best time to buy more of them as they are fragrant, sweet and juicy; and there will be discounts and offers at supermarkets for these stone fruits. With the cherries I bought, I made a Cherry Clafoutis.

Taiwanese Braised Pork with Rice (台式卤肉饭)
Taiwanese Braised Pork with Rice (台式卤肉饭) is one of my favourite dish in Taiwan. When I came back to Singapore from my holiday in Taiwan, I scoured around for the recipe....one that doesn't seem too difficult for someone like me who rarely cooks big time.

Traditional Mooncake (Baked)
This is the second year that I'm making traditional mooncakes. I love eating these snacks and enjoy oooogling at the mouth watering pictures posted in magazines and food blogs. I never got down to baking them myself previously as I always thought it would be tedious and difficult.
